Last week 4 of the children in
our class were spotlighted in the morning announcements. They shared with us ways they use HABIT #3 Put First Things First.
This is what they said:
Camilla d’Hulst – “I put First
Things First, when I finish my homework before playing with my sister or
friends.”
Aylin Estrada – “I use Habit #3,
Put First Things First, when I read 20 minutes before I play with my brother
and sister.”
Aiden Janssen – “I use Habit #3,
Put First Things First, when I put away clean dishes before I ride my bike.”
Hazel Allred – “I use Habit #3,
Put First Things First, when I do my homework before I watch a show.”
I love how brave these volunteers
were to share with the school. They are
learning some really important life habits!
Thank you parents, for supporting our 7 Habits at home!
Each month we will be celebrating one child from
our class that has been a great example of the Habit of the Month. That person will be spotlighted on our HABIT
bulletin board in the hall. This first one
was all about Habit #2 – Begin With The
End In Mind. So many children in our
class are a great example of this but I could only pick one. Kate Van Orden is a fabulous example of
beginning with the end in mind. She
ALWAYS has a plan for her behavior and getting her work done at school and at
home. Congratulations Kate!
Pizza
Hut Coupon – If your child turned in their
reading minutes for November they have earned a FREE personal pan pizza
(compliments of Pizza Hut). Thank you
for supporting you child’s learning by having them read or by reading to them
every week. Don’t forget to write down all of their minutes on the homework
bookmark each week.
Check out how many children passed off a level in
RAZ KIDS last week!
FRIDAY
FUN CENTERS
The learning centers last Friday were truly
fun! Miguelangel said, “That was a fun
party!” It wasn't mean't to be a party but I love it when the students
think learning is a party! We talked
about Native Americans, pictographs, and made teepees with pictograph stories. We talked about Pilgrims and made
butter. That was yummy! We became engineers and created 2D shapes
then figured out how to use those same shapes to create 3D shapes. We also made Native American headdresses with
snap-word feathers. These words are the trickiest
snap-words we have in kinder.
Thank you Jen Farley and Rosalva d’Hulst for
coming and helping run the centers!
We
will be doing more of these Friday Fun
Centers come the new year. Watch the
blog for those dates and please consider coming to help when you can. I will need 3-4 parents each time.
Thursday, November 30th
Make sure you put this date on your calendar. Watch for a flier to come home in your child's homework folder on Monday.
The children went on a SHAPE HUNT at home last week. Look at what they found. We really do have shapes all around us!
LOOKING
AHEAD
We only have a little over 3 weeks until Winter
Break so I want to make the most of it. I encourage you to do all
that you can to make sure your child does not miss even one day.
We will be taking our 2D & 3D
SHAPES Assessment next week.
The children will need to be able to recognize and describe the
attributes of all of the 2D (flat) shapes and 3D (solid) shapes that we have
studied. These are the same shapes that
they practiced in the memory-match game that was in their homework last week.
WTW Spelling Sorts
We have 3 more spelling sorts until Winter Break. Please
help your child each week by cutting, sorting and writing the letters or words
depending on which level of sort they are currently studying. I am so
pleased with the progress each child is making! Make sure you look
closely at their sort. I have moved
several children up into the next group.

We loved having parents and
