RAZ KID READERS!
Once again we have some fabulous Raz Kid Readers!
These kids all passed of a level of Raz Kids last week!

Abraham

Aiden J.

Aylin

Aaron

Miguelangel

Our visit to the Children’s Treehouse was so much fun!  Thank you to all the parents that came.  We learned that fairy tales come from all over the world and different parts of the world tell the same fairy tale in a different way.

Some of the children got to become actors and actresses in a partici-play in the Mexican version of Snow White.

We also made magic wands and spent time exploring the Treehouse.

PRESIDENT’S DAY
We learned all about 2 of our most famous presidents: Abraham Lincoln & George Washington.

Among other things we learned that President Washington wore a 3 corner hat and dressed very differently from us.

We played with Lincoln Logs.

The children then wrote about President Lincoln and did a fabulous job!  Stop by our class to see what your child wrote!

BOOTS and BUNKER
We got to learn about safety at home, school, and in the community with the clowns Boots and Bunkers.  It was so entertaining learning about these important things in such a fun way!

SPIRIT DAY
Spirit Day was a blast!  It was so fun to see all of the children in their rainbow colors!  Thanks for participating!

DONATIONS

This week we will be having a Seed Tasting Party.  I want the children to discover that seeds come in many different forms.  I will need the following types of seeds, or any other kinds of seed you can think of.  If you can donate any of these, please contact me.

Also, I am still in need of
1 small bag of potting soil

1 bag of grass seed

As we get ready to go to the zoo on March 12th I need you to do 3 things this week:
DUE FRIDAY…
1.  Sign the zoo field trip permission slip
2.  Fill out the lunch form
3.  Send $2.00 for the train ride at the zoo(give to the secretaries in the office)
Both the permission and lunch papers will be in your child’s homework folder.

PARENTS… If you are coming to the zoo with us I need to know what your lunch preference will be. Then I need you to pay the secretaries for it and attach your receipt to the lunch form.  We cannot take money from your child’s account to pay for adult lunches.

Week 24

We have more fabulous RAZ READERS that passed off a
 level last week!
NEVAEH
GENESIS
Our VALENTINE’S ACTIVITY was a blast!  Thank you to our wonderful parents for a great activity!  We played Number BINGO with numbers to 30.  We made flowers to give to someone special.  We worked on our counting and fine motor skills with candy hearts and chopsticks.  We also used our math skills of estimating, counting, and graphing.  We ate yummy strawberries while listening to stories.  Then we opened our valentines and practiced reading our newest high-frequency word ~ from.
Thank you for all of the wonderful valentines you gave me.  I truly do feel loved!

Thank you taking time to come to your child’s Parent Teacher Conference last week.  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!  I loved watching as they presented their Leadership Notebook to you.  They worked hard on getting them ready and practicing how to present them.

We are continuing to explore living things and their characteristics.  In the next couple of weeks we will be growing grass and observing and dissecting seeds.  To do this we are in need of the following donations:

1 small bag of Miracle Grow potting soil

25 – 8 ounce clear Solo cups

1 small bag of grass seed

1 bag of large Lima beans

Monday – NO SCHOOL President’s Day

Tuesday – Library Day (this week only)

Tuesday - Field Trip to The Treehouse Museum

I have the following parents signed-up to chaperon:
1.    Mark Murphy

2.    Cynthia Johns
3.    Kristy Janssen
4.    Jeramy Bills

OPAs annual PENNY WARS will begin on Tuesday and go through March 15th.  For those of you new to OPA this is how it works.  Each class will have a can that is labeled with their teacher’s name in the front by the secretaries.  The goal is to collect as many pennies in our own can.  Pennies are positive.  All other coins: nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar bills are negative.  The negative coins and bills need to be put in other class cans.  The class that has the most money in the positive at the end of the contest will win a prize.  The money raised will go towards purchasing new playground equipment.
