Once again we have a fabulous Raz Kid Reader!
Aiden M. passed of a level of Raz Kids last week!
National
School Walkout Day
On
March 14th we participated in the National School Walkout Day. At OPA each class and grade did a different
activity to bring awareness to how we can make a difference in someone else’s
life.
In
our class the children brainstormed and came up with their own idea. They made hearts and wrote messages of
friendship on each one. Then they passed
them out at recess to other students that looked like they may need a friend or
a “pick-me-up”. Some of the children also
chose to take some of theirs home to give away.
It
was such a little thing and yet so powerful to hear the children talk about
becoming aware of how they can and did make a difference in someone’s life.
I
have never been more proud of my class!!!
We
are now finished with the Penny Wars. On
Monday we will hear about how much money was raised. THANK YOU for all of your contributions! It will be really fun to have more playground
equipment!
Report Cards will be coming
home this week. Please take time to
celebrate your child’s (and your) hard work.
Please sign the envelope and
return it to school.
You keep the report card.
As you can see we had so much fun at the zoo! Thank you to all of the parents that came and
helped!
How is your child’s grass doing at home? I hope is it continuing to be Groovy Grass! If they take care of it, it will last a long,
long time. I once had a student that
kept his alive for a couple of years!
Our meal worms have now gone through the 4 stages of
their life cycle:
We watched them change from a meal worm to a pupa,
and then finally to a white and then brown beetle. What a great experiment to
see how living things grow and change!
This
week in science we will be changing topics and talking about something that is
non-living ~ ROCKS
Your
child has an assignment to find 1 rock from outside to use on FRIDAY in class.
·
It must be bigger than a marble but be able to fit
in the palm of their hand.
·
I do not want them to bring a rock purchased from
the store.
On
Monday we will talk about how to find a rock. Please help support your child in
their search and send the rock to school by FRIDAY. We will be using them in an experiment in
class that day.
This week we are taking the math test on addition (composition)
and subtraction (decomposition). We have been working really hard in class on
these concepts and I can’t wait to see “What
they know and where they did grow!”
