Week 10

For coming to Parent Teacher Conferences with your child last week! I loved meeting with you and talking about the wonderful things all the children are doing.  I hope you enjoyed hearing them present their Leadership Notebook to you.  They worked really hard practicing with each other to prepare their presentation.

Remember to check your child’s backpack on Wednesday for their Report Card.  It will be in an envelope (similar to their spelling envelope).  Celebrate all of their wonderful grades and then please continue to work on any letters and/or numbers they need to learn.  Sign the envelope – keep the report card – send the envelope back to school.

LAST WEEK…
Words Their Way Spelling
I want to congratulate you for the wonderful scores on your kid’s first spelling test last week!
I’d also like to show you some of the Sorting Mats that kids turned in.  They look great!

Make sure your child is practicing writing his/her letters or words.  All the lines on their sorting mat should be filled with writing to be complete.  Especially focus on using the proper lines when writing.  Use the vocabulary “top line, middle line, bottom line”.  All letters should be sitting on the bottom line, not floating up above.

Make sure you keep the sort at home and return ONLY the Sorting Mat in the envelope on Thursday.

   LANGUAGE ARTS
We explored the letter Kk .   Kk is for kiwi.

We are getting really good at drawing, coloring, and labeling our illustrations in our Writing Journals!

We are also getting good at reading our snap
words, too!  Last week we learned the words:  me, no

READING MINUTES
Last week our class read 1640 minutes.  That’s great!  Do you think we can beat that total this week?

MATH

Next Monday we will be taking the Unit 3 Math Assessment.  It is all about the numbers 1-10.  Your child will be counting and writing the numbers 1-10.  Please take time to practice these numbers so that they will be able to do their very best! Check out these fun videos...
