Week 9

For coming to Parent Teacher Conferences last week. I loved meeting with you and talking about the wonderful things the children are doing.  I hope you enjoyed hearing them present their Leadership Notebook to you.  They worked really hard practicing with each other to prepare their presentation.

LANGUAGE ARTS

We explored the letter Kk .  Kk is for kiss.  I asked several of the children if they would like a kiss and they all said, “No!”  Then they reminded me that there is no kissing in kindergarten.  But, when I said, “Would you like a kiss?” and showed them a chocolate kiss their answers changed to, “YES!”

We are getting really good at drawing, coloring, and labeling our illustrations in our Writing Journals!

This week we will be taking our 2nd Math Assessment.  It is all about reading, writing the numbers 0-10 and counting “1 more & 1 less”.  Please take time to practice these numbers so that they will be able to do their very best!

   October 23rd – 27th

Our goal for this week is that the children will come away with this message -

We need to be proactive and take care of our bodies if

we want to be healthy and happy!

Make sure you check the schedule to see how to dress each day:

MONDAY – Wear a RED shirt with uniform pants.
TUESDAY – Wear school uniform
WEDNESDAY – Wear a jersey or Spirit Shirt and uniform pants
THURSDAY – Wear BEST DRESS or school uniform
FRIDAY – Wear school uniform

It’s time!  Your child may begin working on their Raz Kids account.  Please keep the paper I gave to you at Parent Teacher Conference and refer to it often.

With each book remember to “Give me 5”:
Listen to it
Listen to it
Read it
 Read it
     Take the quiz

Record every 4th or 5th book, only
There are no quizzes if your child is on level aa

You can support your child by sitting next to them and reminding them to:
1.    Read the picture on each page, first
2.    Bounce the beginning sound of words they don’t know
3.    Pull down the sounds in a word (your child can show you how to do this)
4.    Look for “snap words” they know

Refrain from:
1.    Reading the words for them
2.    Answering the quiz questions for them
